As I mentioned, I very recently put my house up for sale, and today is the first open house. (If you want to take a peek, you can actually go on a virtual tour with music!)
I've lived in this house for seventeen years, and have spent the past several months paring down and carefully editing my possessions. Coincidentally, this has been a hot topic on several blogs I follow, as well as on the French Chic group posts. It seems like everyone is seeking a life with less stuff.
A well-edited life is a topic I want to explore in future posts. But for today, let's just say that living a life with less "stuff"--clothes, furniture, objects--can be liberating.
What are your thoughts on this subject?

A. - You are by far the most advanced editor I have ever seen. This home is so beautiful and clean. I love so many things about it. The bathroom with the marble tile is magnifique! I can't imagine anyone coming to your open house and not being overcome with a sense of calm and serenity. I'm gushing now, but really it's so open and uncluttered that just looking at the photos relaxed me. I love the music too! You have completely inspired me to push on with my editing. You know how I feel about it, but this really is the best example I've seen of what I'm striving for. Lovely!

Stephanie, thanks so much. I have to confess, I had help from the house stagers that work with my realtor; they had me take out several pieces of furniture and area rugs (which are currently in my garage, as seen in the pic!)
ReplyDeleteI had the bathrooms renovated over the summer; I selected the marble, and the greys for a clean, uncluttered look.
It's been a great experience and I've learned a lot and plan to share it here, on my blog.
Wow, impressive. I'm glad to hear you did take a few things out, since I was a bit intimidated at the cleanliness and well edited-ness of it! I am sure with it looking for perfect it will sell soon!
ReplyDeleteYes, I took out a chair and an antique server, both of which are sitting in my garage. I also swapped out two oriental rugs for the sisal rugs you see in the pics.
ReplyDeleteA,
ReplyDeleteYour home is absolutely beautiful. Good luck in selling it, although I hope it sells quickly-I also wish you the best of luck in moving forward though this part of your life. Hang in there :)
Looks amazing!! Good luck in selling.
ReplyDeleteWe downsized recently, and I still am editing the stuff... still have 2 kids and a husband at home, so complete editing is out of the question.
It is much easier living in a smaller place with less stuff.
This is the most picture-perfect cottage I think I have ever seen and your decor is so stylish. I have home-envy. You have great taste!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with a speedy and prosperous sale.
I'm on the decluttering/editing/streamlining/paring down bandwagon too, and loving it.
Bravo!!!
