Fleur de sel caramels at Whole Foods

Whole Foods shoppers be on the lookout for French Fleur de Sel caramels, currently on sale for $5.00.

I had never heard of fleur de sel caramels until Marsi, one of my readers, said that she had always wanted to make them from scratch.

I finally tasted these buttery sweet and salty treats last summer in France, and loved them! Then today I spied them on sale at Whole Foods and scooped a box to savor at home.

A sweet beginning to the new year.

  2. I'm not the typical woman -- don't like chocolate and don't like cake or most sweets. HOWEVER, I adore caramels ... I think I will make a special trip tomorrow when the kids are back in school to pick some up. What a perfect simple luxury to indulge in. Thanks for sharing how you bring those small pleasures into you life so we can do the same.

  4. My mother has always made her own caramels. They are amazing. Entirely worth the work it takes to make them. I have never had a store bought caramel that comes close to hers. Though I would be interested in trying these.

  5. I've had these and they are indeed very good. I saw Barefoot Contessa make fleur de sel caramels on her show once. I'm sure the recipe is still online and maybe even a video.

  6. I haven't seen these at our WholeFood$ Mkt. I must say I'm skeptical because that packaging looks very much like the box that contains their "French truffles" these truffles are made with coconut oil and supply 55% of daily saturated fat in 27 Gms. Really they are an abomination, they taste of oily fat
